Old and new homepage
I've got some complaints that my old homepage is not available anymore. There was some material - especially on my old weblog - which I have not taken to my new website. The old homepage is therefore available again under the new domain http://www.blendedlearning.org/.
My old Homepage is still under Plone 2.0.5 on the server in Hagen, whereas the new Homepage (= the website you are visiting just now) under Plone 2.1.2 is already running on a DUK machine. The preparation of the new Homepage - was one of the reason why I didn't publish any article in the last 6 weeks or so.
"Old" and "new" has a sense which is to be seen relaively: Actually this is already my 5th Hompage running under different software. Starting with HTML/Dreamweaver, I continued with Frontier, Frontier/Manila und finally Plone. The conversion process from version 2.0.5 to 2.1.2 didn't work for me, so I had to build up the homepage from scratch. I didn't (and still do not) know what the reason was for this inconvenience. Maybe it had to do with the new content types under Archetypes (I got every article duplicated.) Because version 2.1 has a lot of new features I used this (forced) occasion to alter structure and design.
Free Webspace
Did you know that on this website you get free webspace with your registration? This standard feature of any Plone website has many advantages:- You can write private articles, which can't be accessed by other registered members of this website. But note: As a manager of this website I can read - and delete ;-) - all articles on my own website.
- You can write public drafts which can be accessed by everybody if you provide people with the URL. You can search for public drafts of other visitors either by using the search engine or by visiting their home folder. Klick on the folder "Mitglieder" (Member) and fill the search form.
- You can even write news and submit them to me for publishing. In that case they appear on the start page as site news under your name.
A member of my staff in Hagen is preparing a How-To. Hopefully this will be available before the Eastern Holiday. But try it out even without this help! - It shouldn't be too difficult.
